Turtle Reef Snorkeling
Swim with green and hawksbill sea turtles on reefs where they feed and rest.
The reefs around Bodufolhudhoo are a haven for sea turtles. Both green turtles and hawksbill turtles are resident here year-round, feeding on seagrass and sponges on the shallow reef flats.
This excursion takes you to the best turtle sites in the area — reefs where turtles are seen on almost every visit. Green turtles graze calmly on the seagrass beds, often allowing snorkelers to float alongside them for minutes at a time. Hawksbill turtles, with their beautiful patterned shells, pick at sponges and soft corals on the reef wall.
Turtles surface to breathe every few minutes, and watching one rise slowly from the reef, glide to the surface for a breath, and then drift back down is one of the most peaceful sights in the ocean.
We visit multiple reef sites, choosing locations based on the day's conditions. Between turtle encounters, you'll snorkel over coral gardens teeming with reef fish — butterflyfish, angelfish, parrotfish, and more.
Our guides follow responsible wildlife interaction guidelines: no touching, no chasing, and a respectful distance that lets the turtles behave naturally. We provide all snorkeling equipment.
